Events

Highlands Council produces three signature events a year: Volunteer Appreciation, Highlands Day, and Green Halloween.

In order to bring a variety of events and activities to Issaquah Highlands, Highlands Council often partners with local groups and organizations to bring these and many other events to the Highlands. Partnership often includes sponsorship funding from local businesses, in-kind donations, and sometimes staff support. Assessment fees do not fund community events, or the Highlands Council.

Below is a list of annual events, but there are many other events and activities throughout the year. Watch for news updates and check out the community calendar to learn about those events. Only events that say "produced by Highlands Council," are produced by the Highlands Council. All other events are produced by other organizations.

Purim - February /March
Chabad of Central Cascades throws a great party to celebrate Purim, combining ancient Jewish traditions with a modern twist. In addition to the traditional reading of the Megillah, or Purim scroll, they adopt a fun theme each year, such as "Purim in Brazil," and enjoy food and cultural activities related to the theme.

Easter Egg Hunt- March/April
Join us for one of our longest running community events-the Easter egg hunt! Hosted by local churches. Little ones of all ages enjoy finding eggs with candy and trinkets while parents socialize with neighbors.

Volunteer Appreciation - April (Event produced by the Highlands Council)
Our community would not be what it is without the many volunteers that are committed to working on our events, clubs, committees, governance, and much more. Once a year, we invite all our volunteers to an appreciation party. This is our chance to recognize accomplishments, honor individuals, and say "thank you!" One deserving person is also awarded the Volunteer of the Year award at this fun celebration.

Highlands Day - June (Event produced by the Highlands Council)
Our biggest event of the year! Our quaint neighborhood Independence Day parade has grown into a huge festival. Highlands residents of all ages enjoy this red, white and blue celebration, but the kids go wild! Games, rides, inflatables and just loads of fun for everyone.

Diwali Festival - October /November
Bhartiyam, a local Indian cultural organization, hosts the Diwali Festival. The evening includes a cultural program, lights, diyas, ramleela, live music and dinner. This is a wonderful opportunity to cherish your rich culture and heritage with friends and neighbors.
Menorah Lighting and Festival of Lights - December
Chabad of Central Cascades is proud to bring a 6 foot menorah to Village Green to celebrate Chanukah with the Issaquah Highlands community. Celebrate at Blakely Hall with traditional songs, delectable holiday treats, and fun activities.
Christmas Festival - December
This festival is organized by local churches. Stay awhile to listen to carolers, visit with Santa, and even go for a ride in a horse-drawn carriage!
